Professional Lawn Care Tips

Another day, another round of professional lawn care tips. We know most of our clients hire us because not only do we provide the landscaping, lawn care, and lawn maintenance services within Athens, but we also take the chore of lawn care off of their plate, so they can spend more time doing what they love. Since what we love is lawn care, we don’t mind spreading some wisdom and giving our readers out there some professional tips to get their landscaping or lawn mowing to the next level. When you hire a professional lawn care service, the main benefit is the time you save yourself, but if you are someone who is looking to do their yard work themselves, here is the next installment in our series of professional lawn care tips that you may not know.

Our first tip that we haven’t spent much time going over yet is seed variety. So, depending on your environment (seasonal, northern, southern, shady, direct sun, , etc), you’ll want to base your grass seed choice off of that. For a new grass installation, whether you are growing the grass yourself or installing sod, it’s important to take a few things into consideration when choosing a grass type. For instance, there are warm season grasses and cold season grasses, and if you live somewhere that doesn’t receive much rain or you do not have sprinklers or any irrigation system, you’ll want to look for a drought resistant variety. Grass choice seems so basic, but it’s an important step of the process within lawn care that many people pay no mind to. No matter whether you’re mowing your lawn regularly, fertilizing, watering, if you choose a grass variety that does not do well in your environment, you’re going to be consistently fighting an uphill battle. As far as lawn maintenance goes, you want to give your grass the best chance to flourish and grow green and lush, so if you’re having trouble, either do some research into your grass choice, or call a professional, maybe just to start with. If you’re growing grass for the first time or looking to have sod installed, it really will be worth while to call a professional landscaping crew or lawn maintenance team like ours at Athens Lawn Care & Service. A professional lawn maintenance company will be able to get your yard going and growing, and it may be easier for you to do the maintenance aspect, once it’s grown steadily for a while.

Our next tip kind of flows naturally from the first, and that is if you prefer to do your own lawn care or grass cutting yourself, you may find it easier to start with a lawn care service, and slowly transition into doing it yourself. With lawn care comes watering schedules, fertilizing, mowing, and more, so if you’re starting from a beginning point, or aren’t sure how to begin, setting up with a lawn care team, having them get everything going well, and then transitioning into DIY may be the best method for you. We get it, sometimes people just want to handle their backyard themselves! Rather than having a landscaping service come all the time, maybe have them come on a regular basis, and then once things have come to a natural maintenance standpoint, maybe 3-4 months in, start taking over the fertilizing, then the mowing, et cetera.

We hope you found these two tips helpful, and we look forward to continuing our series on professional tips for lawn care, lawn maintenance, and landscaping in Athens, GA. We’ll continue posting, and we hope you’ll give us a call soon!

I like what you said about making sure that your lawn is able to flourish by hiring a professional lawn care service. My dad told me yesterday that he noticed our lawn looking unhealthy in some areas. I will be sure to recommend that he hires a reputable lawn care service to make sure our lawn is in good health and able to grow.
